Simple Steps to Help You Get Your Home Ready for New Window Installation

It is normal to feel excited about having new windows installed while also feeling a little nervous. After all, you don’t know what the process will be like, how much of a mess it will make, if there will be any issues, etc.

You have already taken a great step by working with Charles Window as we will go above and beyond to ensure you have the most positive experience possible. When it gets closer to the day of your installation we will go over what you can do, but in the meantime, check out these simple steps you can take when it’s time to get ready for your new windows.

Take down anything hanging on your walls

You may think to take down wall hangings in the area near where your new windows will be installed, but many people forget about the rooms around them. We take extra care when installing windows but there will be vibrations involved. If you have pictures or mirrors that are not strongly secured to your walls, they could potentially fall off. If you are in doubt about whether or not a strong vibration from another room could affect a particular picture, we recommend taking it down.

Move valuables and necessities

As is true of pictures and paintings described above, you do want to move anything valuable out of your home. However, you should also be moving anything you will need. While we strive to work quickly and get out of your way as soon as possible, and you can always come to us if you need access to a spot we are working on, getting your necessities in one spot can be a convenient option for you.

Make a plan for your kids and pets

If you have pets or kids in the home then you will need to do something to keep them isolated on the day of the installation. You may have the kids head out to a friend’s house and put the dog in the backyard. If you have a cat, you may have to keep it in one or two rooms while we are working. We recommend getting pets and kids out of the way both for their safety and to ensure that there are no issues caused by them getting in our way.
